So now you know how we were so blessed to get Chester. You might be curious about how we were blessed twice. This too is a pretty amazing tail, like the pun.
It was April 2019 and I went to visit my sister in Colorado. We remained very close over the years. As I mentioned before there were only the three of us and my Mother. She took on the role of Mother whenever my mother wasn’t there. Which was most of the time, with her two sometimes three jobs. Her name was Betsy, but I always called her Boopey. After Betty Boop! She was so pretty and I thought she looked like her. She was very good to me and I was a pain in the ass. I guess as a little sister I kind of idolized her.
While I was away, Ed was helping Cody move out of his apartment and into a new apartment. While he was there he heard a cat meowing so loudly. He told me he never heard a cat make that much noise before. He asked Cody about it and he wasn’t sure but thought maybe a cat snuck into the basement. So they had to checkout what all the fuss was about.
They set out down into the basement. They didn’t see a cat but could surely hear one. They started looking around and found a small kitten had somehow got himself stuck up inside the basement wall. Now they had the conundrum of how to get this little baby kitty down from behind pipes in he wall!
They found a board and carefully propped it up around the pipes like a ramp. Cody didn’t have a cat so he didn’t have any cat food. And because he was moving he didn’t really have any people food either. He did have a little ham leftover from Easter dinner, so they tried that. Sure enough the baby was hungry and climbed the board for the Easter dinner. So they let him eat and took him outside and placed him safely under a huge dumpster in the back so no harm would come to him. Then they finished the move. Now that should have been the end of the tail. (pun again) Ed and Cody Cat Saving Hero’s!

But it didn’t happen quite that way. Ed went home and felt bad and worried about this little kitten. He thought about bringing him home but was concerned about Chester’s feelings. So he texted me and told me about his day and how sad he was for this baby.
You probably already guessed my reaction. Of course I said he needed to go back to the dumpster and retrieve him if he was still there. So that’s what he did. How lucky for us, he didn’t even move. He was still waiting for him to come back. Now who was experiencing Love at First Sight. Baby Count. And that’s the story of how we were blessed yet again.

Let us break bread together and get to know each other. Chester’s favorite way to get acquainted!
